How we choose stay areas
BasedTrip helps you decide where in a city to stay. It does not rank hotels. These are the rules we use to turn a large neighbourhood into a clear choice.
An area has to settle a real choice
We write up a street, a cluster of squares, a promenade or the edge of a neighbourhood only when it changes where you would stay. Different names for the same place do not become separate pages.
Facts and judgement stay separate
Official tourism, city and transport sources support the geography, public transport and context of a place. Saying an area is good for a first trip is our own judgement, and the guides present it that way.
Every upside comes with the catch
No area is described only by its benefits. Each one says who should skip it and what you give up in convenience, atmosphere or distance.
Boundaries are written out
Our area borders are editorial, not official district lines. Each guide describes the approximate corridor or cluster of blocks in plain words.
Dates mean what they say
Every guide lists its sources and the date each one was checked. Lasting context about a place and fast-changing transport details are not reviewed on the same cycle. A checked date only moves when the sources were read again. Sources and updates lists them all.
What we do not claim
We make no blanket claims about safety, noise, authenticity, prices or availability. Check the details of a specific building and room with the place itself before you book.
