District: Dreta de l’Eixample, Barcelona

Kind of place: Avenue and green-street edge

Who it suits

Good for: First Barcelona trip, Architecture-led days, Simple city orientation

Skip it if: You want a village-scale neighborhood, You prefer beach-first mornings, Luxury retail corridors feel too polished

Getting around

Getting there: Passeig de Gràcia and nearby Girona/Diagonal are the main rail and metro anchors. Verify current service notices before travel.

On foot: Eixample’s orthogonal grid and chamfered blocks make orientation straightforward. The old city begins south of the pocket rather than inside it.

By day: Modernista architecture, retail and broad avenues dominate the visual rhythm.

In the evening: Restaurants and city-center movement remain present, but the experience is more avenue-led than square-led.

Where the area starts and ends

Editorial pocket: the central Eixample blocks around Passeig de Gràcia and Consell de Cent, extending only to the adjacent chamfered blocks.

Nearby: Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, Rambla de Catalunya, Plaça de Catalunya

The catch

Convenience and landmark access come with a more formal, commercial city-center atmosphere.
